What is the standard ground option?

The standard ground option available at checkout is a flat-rate pricing structure designed to make shopping easier and more economical. Orders under 55 pounds are eligible, and items will ship the most economical method via USPS, UPS, or Fedex Ground at the following flat-rate pricing (excluding Hawaii and Alaska):

  • $0 - $49.99 ships for $9.95
  • $50 - $198.99 ships for $12.95
  • $199 and up ships for free

* Wholesale orders are not applicable for our standard flat rate or free shipping. If you are a wholesale customer and select free or standard flat rate shipping, you will be responsible to pay the calculated shipping cost before your item ships.


How long will it take to receive my order?

This will largely depend upon shipping location, the item ordered, and shipping method chosen. Orders are generally processed within 24 hours of placing the order, excluding weekends and holidays. Orders shipped via the flat-rate standard ground option may ship the following day. If a stocking item is ordered, it will ship from our Pennsylvania warehouse via the shipping service chosen at checkout. Non-stocking items are primarily drop shipped from the factory. If this is not possible due to shipping location or factory minimums, a backorder will be held until a stock order is placed. The customer will be contacted using the email address provided if any delays are foreseeable.


How are my shipping charges calculated?

Our shipping calculator takes into account the total weight and measurement of all items in your cart that can be shipped via UPS. Rates are linked to Smith Tool & Supply's UPS account and assume shipment from our zip code to your zip code and determines if your address is residential or commercial.

Carts totaling over 150 lbs will automatically divide across multiple packages. If a single item weighs over 150 lbs it must ship by LTL freight. At checkout you will be notified in the following manner:

You are purchasing an item that cannot ship UPS Ground and requires freight delivery.


If you place the order as is, you will be charged separately for additional freight, unless the item qualifies for free freight from the factory. We will contact you once the order is placed.

How can I check the status of my order?

Tracking numbers will be provided upon request. At this time our UPS software is not integrated with our website to automatically notify customers. Include a note on your order requesting a tracking number and we'll be happy to provide it.


What taxes are applied to my order?

Only sales tax. We are required to charge sales tax in any state we have a physical presence in. Currently that is a 6% sales tax on all Pennsylvania sales. All other states are tax exempt on our site.

Please send us a tax exemption certificate if you're making Pennsylvania purchases and qualify for tax exemption.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes. We accept orders for most countries. Items will ship via the United States Postal Service (USPS) or UPS unless LTL freight is necessary (Canada and Mexico only). Please request a quote through our contact us form or email tyler@smithtoolsupply.com.

The customer is responsible for customs duties and taxes on all international orders. Our responsibility for the product ends at your countries borders, not your physical shipping address. Shipping of orders may be delayed to confirm receipt of payment.
